CEU Professor Andrea Peto recognized by University of Oslo for her work on scientific freedom

Hungarian historian, CEU professor at the Department of Gender Studies, and research fellow at CEU's Democracy Institute, Andrea Peto has been awarded the University of Oslo’s Human Rights Award for her work on academic freedom. She is receiving the prize in Oslo on December 5, 2022. The University of Oslo’s Human Rights Award is awarded annually for personal efforts and active involvement in one or more areas related to human rights issues in a broad sense. Budapest, 23-25 September 2022

The workshop took place at CEU’s Budapest campus, whose currently empty spaces only emphasized the importance of re-examining the political and theoretical implications of “post-socialism.” The goal of the workshop was to critically account for the strong grip this concept has on the scholarly work engaging with contemporary Eastern Europe and Eurasia, as well as to offer potential alternatives.
