MA program application information 2024-25

There are four MA programs in Gender Studies at CEU: the one-year MA and two-year MA programs taught fully at CEU, and GEMMA (Erasmus Mundus Master’s Degree in Women's and Gender Studies) and MATILDA (Women's and Gender History), two-year programs that include mobility to universities in other parts of Europe. 

Successful applicants to all programs must meet the general CEU admissions requirements (outlined on the main CEU website). As for the Academic Writing Submission, they have to submit a 500-word essay on the relevance of their academic/professional background to study at CEU and to their future career goals.

DEADLINES 1-YEAR AND 2-YEAR MA AND MATILDA PROGRAMS

OCTOBER 18, 2023 (23:59, Central European Time)*  

Application deadline for applicants to master’s programs** from visa-sensitive countries (i.e. countries where it may take 9 to 12 months to obtain a study residence permit and visa). 

Early application deadline for applicants to master’s programs** seeking an early decision because they either need no CEU financial aid or wish to apply for external funding.  

All applications must be complete with any applicable standard test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, etc.). 

*Applicants will receive a response in December 2023. 

**Please note: this deadline does NOT apply to GEMMA applications.

FEBRUARY 1, 2024 (23:59, CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME)

Deadline for applicants to master’s programs (from non-visa-sensitive countries) who wish to be considered for CEU financial aid

All applications must be complete with relevant standard test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, etc.).

MARCH 15, 2024 (23:59, CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME)

Final application deadline for self-financing master’s applicants who require a study visa (except for citizens from visa-sensitive countries).

All applications must be complete with applicable standard test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, etc.).

AUGUST 15, 2024 (23:59, CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME)

Final application deadline for self-financing master’s applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of EU/EEA countries, including those applicants who are holders of a student residence permit in an EU/EEA country that is valid until at least the end of September 2024.

All applications must be complete with applicable standard test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, etc.).

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis (subject to spaces available).

Please note that applications for the GEMMA program are to be submitted at the University of Granada online (as clarified in the call), but all the other rules and recommendations apply. The call for applications for the 18th edition (2024-2026) will soon be available. Details can be found here.
