Dubrovnik International Postgraduate Course "Feminisms in a Transnational Perspective: Art, Artivism and Other Transformative Practices"

Inter-University Center Dubrovnik, May 23-27, 2022
Short Report
Feminisms in a Transnational Perspective is the general title of an annual international postgraduate course that takes place in the last week of May at the Inter-University Center in Dubrovnik. Every year a new topic is addressed under this general title. The course brings together young and more established feminist researchers to discuss a range of topics related to the general title, who all participate in the entire course, thus sharing knowledge and experience.
This year’s 15th edition of the course was dedicated to exploring feminist creativity, critical reflection and political engagement through art with the aim to speak to the current moment and reflect on the ways in which feminist art practices participate in and respond to what is going on. The course addressed various forms of artivism, with participation of artists, art curators, and both senior and junior researchers from several European countries (for the program, see here).
This year’s course was organized by feminist researchers and academic from five institutions: the Centre for Women’s Studies and the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, both from Zagreb; the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb; the University of Naples L’Orientale, and the Department of Gender Studies, Central European University, Vienna. From the Department of Gender Studies, which has participated in this summer course since 2007, this year there were five participants: Ana Abril, Eglė Ambrasaitė, Slaven Crnić, Petar Odak and Jasmina Lukić.
